Four social entrepreneurs will tell their story on Wednesday, October 10.

Today, we’re announcing the names of the four entrepreneurs who will be interviewed for the Social Entrepreneur Live event on October 10, 2018. They are:

  • Precious Drew, PERK: The Natural Beauty Lab
  • Danielle Wojdyla, Señoras de Salsa
  • Aneela Idnani, HabitAware
  • Caroline Karanja, 26 Letters

We’ll interview these four world-changing entrepreneurs, live in front of an audience. The entrepreneurs will take questions from you.

Here’s how you get into Social Entrepreneur Live

  1. First, order a Twin Cities Startup Week ticket on Eventbrite. NOTE: You’ll have to do this before you can sign up for the scheduled events.
  2. Following that, you will be prompted to create a Sched account.
  3. With your new Sched account, you can sign up for the Social Entrepreneur Live event. (Again, you can’t start doing this until you have a ticket.)
  4. Browse the schedule and add other events to your Sched calendar.

If Precious Drew’s name is familiar, it may be because she was recently named a FINNOVATION Fellow, Precious is a co-founder of PERK: The Natural Beauty Lab. PERK is committed to sustainability by upcycling fair-trade coffee grounds from local coffee shops to create natural skincare products. Ultimately, PERK aims to be the leading provider of sustainable upcycled-based skincare products.

Precious is a recent graduate from the College of Saint Benedict / Saint John’s University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Global Business with a focus in entrepreneurship. Precious co-launched PERK: The Natural Beauty Lab, under the guidance of the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship’s Entrepreneur Scholars program.

Danielle Wojdyla, with Señoras de Salsa, began her professional food career at General Mills where she developed and improved products like cereals, snacks, and baked goods. From this technical background, she transitioned to community-based “social enterprise” at a local non-profit and made new connections that became the inspiration for starting a small food business. Señoras de Salsa is motivated to grow a business that empowers and creates income for Latina women and shares bold, authentic flavors with their customers.

Aneela Idnani, HabitAware

Aneela Idnani, HabitAware

Aneela Idnani is Co-founder & President/CMO of HabitAware. HabitAware uses patented wearable technology to help people “Retrain The Brain” from detrimental behaviors to positive ones and on becoming the standard of care for debilitating mental health conditions. HabitAware is a “Headliner” in the Backstage Capital portfolio, run by Arlan Hamilton.

Aneela is an outspoken mental health advocate, having grown up with a common, yet relatively unknown condition called trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling). Aneela is a HAX hardware accelerator alumnus and her company recently received a research grant from the NIH to improve their device and validate Keen as a treatment for trichotillomania and sister disorders.  Her life’s work (HabitAware) has been featured on TechCrunch, The Washington Post, Prevention Magazine and more.

Caroline Karanja, 26 Letters

Caroline Karanja, 26 Letters

Caroline Karanja is a software developer who is passionate about helping organizations and individuals grow towards cultural inclusion. She is the co-founder of 26 Letters, a SaaS solution that helps companies understand and incorporate, diversity, equity, and inclusion. 26 Letters is in the first cohort of Lunar Startups, the incubator housed in the recently renovated Osborn370 building. 

Caroline’s deep experience working in the technology space gives her a unique perspective that has helped define and refine 26 Letters’ approach. Caroline focuses on helping individuals grow professionally and personally towards cultural competence.
