How to Demonstrate Leadership During the COVID-19 Pandemic
No matter your organization type, from business, to nonprofit to government, your organization is looking to you for leadership. Are you leading during this time of COVID-19 crisis? Here’s how you know.
1. Start with you.
You are the model that your organization will follow. Are you practicing self-care? Are you practicing sanitation and social distancing? Are you working from home?
2. Lead others.
Move from me to we. How will we care for one another? Let your organization know how serious COVID-19 is. Let them know that you are worried and that it’s OK to feel afraid. Give them permission to do the right thing during this time of crisis.
3. Take action.
Don’t tiptoe around this pandemic. It is imperative that we do all that we can to flatten the infection curve through decisive action. Shut down all non-critical locations. Enable remote work. Provide the tools for people to be successful from a distance. Cancel nonessential events. Make the hard decisions.
Model the right behavior. Call your organization together as a community, and take decisive action. Your organization is looking to you as a leader. Do the right thing, even if it is hard.
